Sedition

While Congress repealed the Sedition Act of 1918 which was itself an amendment of the Espionage Act of 1917, I begin to wonder if there should be consideration of the beliefs and desires of immigrants before they are granted either residency or citizenship.   The First amendment's guarantee of free speech needs to be weighed against the considered ( Read more... )

That's where I ponder. I am generally supportive of open immigration, but do expect those who come to be motivated by the desire to become American, not to desire our destruction.

In the same vein, I am uncomfortable with the tolerance of naturalized citizens who do not surrender their original citizenship as part of their Oath.
