Star feels like home for Yvaine. Which is simultaneously very comforting and slightly off-putting - though the latter is mostly due to the fact that Yvaine doesn't deal well with things that are unexpected or put her off-balance in any way.
But she likes her, even though social behaviors with people who aren't Tristran are still a little strange for her to deal with. (Though she suspects that Star probably feels somewhat the same about being social.) She doesn't feel the need to prove herself or to put on a grand show to make her look as though she knows what's going on.
Once the brats get back from the middle of nowhere, though, she'll definitely be willing to talk more - because she understands her better than she understands mortals. (Who are, on the whole, a great deal more complicated then they have any right to be.) And having someone to figure things out with is nice.
Which probably isn't something that most people would say about Raven a great deal of the time, but as far as Lethe's concerned it's completely true. He makes sense and he's smart and she looks up to him - he doesn't treat her like a child or an underling and he teaches things in ways that she understands, simply and without pushing. He just does and she has to make it on her own enough to catch up, which is new and oddly empowering for someone who isn't used to making very many decisions or changes.
She's well aware (despite having never really seen it for herself) that he isn't always cuddly and comfortable and dispensing cookies like some sort of magical, winged vending machine - and she's really perfectly okay with that part too.
Loving people means that you love the not-so-nice parts too, she thinks.
Cora likes him - she is naturally predisposed toward liking people that da' likes because da' likes them, but she rather liked Lucian before she knew that her da' did. Which is neat and makes her very pleased about the whole deal. He's nice and he's polite and the fact that he doesn't know his family very well kind of makes her want to make sure he sticks around.
Families are important things to have.
The fact that he speaks canine just makes it better, because as much as she knows that she has to learn how to speak like a proper little girl, she likes speaking the way that comes naturally to her a lot more. And she's six ... so it's sort of like speaking in secret code. Which is cool! (Really!)
Also, he puts sugar in his tea. Anyone who puts three cubes of sugar in anything has to be a good person. That and the fact that he gave her chocolate!
(And bonus Lethe on the Boss - because she's surprisingly loud on occassion.)
It would be very easy to say that Lethe is petrified of him and leave it at that, but then she would be lying - and she's positively awful at lying. Absolutely no staying power whatsoever for maintaining fabrications for more than a few seconds.
Lethe's quiet. It helps her to remain unnoticed, but it also allows her to watch - which is something that she's become very good at after a couple millenia. And seeing as the Lord Hades is a very important sort of person to be watching, she pays a great deal of attention to him. (It seems prudent when one wants to remain in his good graces, after all.) He's stern, yes, and he's intimidating, but he's fair.
And he loves the Lady - it's a dark time in the Underworld when she goes away. It's actually very terribly romantic - not that she'd ever say it out loud for fear of stepping outside her bounds, but it really is.
This is all not to say that she isn't petrified of him ... just, that it's not because of who he
( ... )
Yvaine likes him, which is more than Yvaine can say for the majority of the human race. (Not that that's true either, just that she lives to be contrary and she's too stubborn to admit that she likes people.) But she certainly likes him enough to admit to it and seek out his company when on her own - which she very rarely does because she's a dependent little brat.
On top of that, she likes him well enough to try to be comforting, which is something that she's utterly terrible with. Which, I think, involves a certain amount of trust on her part. She hates to feel as though she isn't in charge of herself and how she's behaving.
Lethe, on the other hand, thinks that Will is utterly charming. He's polite and intelligent and he speaks about love in the proper way that her incredibly idealist-flavored mind appreciates and agrees with.
He's brave. Not the sort of brave that runs without fear into things, but the sort of brave that does things because they're right and does them even though they may be scared. He's the sort of person that she knows she will never find at her river because they are meant for the right places, the places where proper heroes belong.
The Underworld minions need to stick together, man!
Which, kind of covers it, really. He's pack (as far as her conception of such a thing goes) and he's like a little brother that's more than twice her size and has far too many heads.
He's cute and he's earnest and he doesn't mean to attempt to eat the guests, really. So she'll be rather consistent with scritches and will gladly pay for his tab and she'll be terribly patient when it comes to questioning - because she kind of knows that questions aren't something that is encouraged at home, but she also knows that questions are good! He should learn whatever it is that suits him ... if she has some sort of coherent answer for him, of course.
Not that not having one would stop her from trying to make one up.

And he's a lovely dance partner.
