Yeah, life kinda sucks right now, so I am going to update about my fish. I've been doing a lot of homework lately to occupy my mind, and when I say "do homework", I mean "stare at my fish". Thus, I've been noticing a lot of peculiar habits they have ( Read more... )

We have 3 goldfish: Norman, the freakishly big one; Buddy, who by chance is also albino; and Perdy, the little runt and youngest of the group. Norman & Buddy are pals, and do a lot of the same things, swimming together, etc. Perdy is very individualistic, but sometimes plays along, and they all rest together at night in one corner of the aquarium. When Norman got sick and almost died, he almost completely stopped moving at all. Buddy actually kept him alive by nudging and playing with him, keeping him moving. I think fish become friends, in their own way. And as for eating off the bottom, remember that goldfish are nothing but tiny carp, which are by nature bottom feeders. So that explains why they search the bottom of the tank for food - it's genetic.

Thanks for the info. I really had no idea about the carp thing. That explains a lot. I keep thinking that one day, Derek and I will be like my fish. They play so well together. (Okay, that was dirty, but trust me, I didn't mean it like that).

By the way, Derek and I have a present to give you. Mwahaha. We should definitely get together soon.

Hey - sorry it took so long to get back to this, I literally just checked my e-mail for the first time in over a week and saw that you had replied. My primary e-mail address is sacrifice1995@hotmail.com - I check that one almost everyday, so it is easier to get ahold of me through that one.

Present, eh? I do like surprises. Perhaps this weekend? Are you gonna be in town at all?

Bailey and Baxter? Could you have picked more boring names? hahah. Um... about the sucking on the rocks... are you sure they aren't CLEANING their bowl? That's always possible, eh? And dear.... you have WAY to much time on your hands if you've noticed your fishes habbits. And finally... I think you'r fish are INSANE! Or suicidal.... (re: trying to breath air)

Insane is definitly the case. I mean, look at who their mommy is...

Derek and I named the fish after the kids who were in line in front of us at Meijer when we bought them. It was kinda cute, actually.

FYI - if you had as much homework as I do right now, you would be staring at fish, too. Just you wait...

I never did claim to be sane. Furthermore, I never claimed to have motherd the fish with Derek. Ever heard of immaculate conception...

Yes, little kids. Their mother was yelling at them, so that is how we know their names.

The popping sound you hear is the fish trying to get oxygen. They are, in not so many words, trying to breathe air. Do you change the water in their tank enough? You'd be surprised how quickly the air in water gets used up.
good luck with them.
