Turns out I'm available Wednesday night. If I need any clarifications, I can ask you then... but it sounds clear enough.

I hadn't realized Pennsic was such a hot venue, if you turn down so many performers, wouldn't it be better to perhaps raise a second pavillion for performances? Having done booking for a venue myself how many offers do you all recieve?

This year, we received 26 requests and are able to accommodate 24 of those performers. The 2 extra were unable to fully complete our application form after several requests on the part of my scheduler. We work very, very hard in order to accommodate as many performers as physically possible, and some performances have been moved to the Amphitheater as a result.

There seems to be a major disconnect on the part of Cultural Affairs regarding Marquee Professional Performers vs. Buskers. I'm not willing to pay $x for a show by a paid professional from the Ren Faire circuit. I AM willing to and often do donate to the many talented performers who both entertain and add to the atmosphere of Pennsic. And I don't think it's wrong for them to want to make some money for their efforts - if nothing else, it's period practice.

I did not know that PA collected a tax on services or donations. Interesting.

I also had no idea that this was even an issue or that so many people were turned down.

We turned down 2 people this year for space in our venues, both for failure to fully complete our application after repeated requests. We accommodated the other 24 performances requests.

And this is entirely reasonable.

They do not. Tips are subject to personal income tax, but not sales tax. As such, for the purposes of Pennsic, the state effectively does not regulate them.
