Palin is absurd

Sep 03, 2008 21:14

This is in addition the stuff we talked about Friday... Troopergate, hiring a known sexual harasser to replace the guy she fired, scrubbing her webpage, running up $20 million dollars in debt for her town when she was mayor, etc.

* Palin claims to be a fiscal conservative, but she hired a lobbyist to bring earmark money to Wasilla, and was for ( Read more... )

The fact that she tried to get books removed from the Wasilla library would be more than enough for me to not want her anywhere near the Presidency, but combined with everything else? Ugh.

I know. That alone's a bit of a deal-breaker for me. But it is hearsay, so I included the rest. ;)

I just saw the list of what the books were, too: we're talking shit like A Wrinkle in Time, Bridge to Terabithia, the Canterbury Tales, Flowers For Algernon, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird... fucking ridiculous.

I would be mad if this was a list of books she tried to get banned from a school library, but at least I'd sort of understand the reasoning behind some of them; but claiming it's unacceptable for adults to have access to them? Fuck. That.

A Wrinkle In Time? Wtf?! It's utterly innocuous... unless you're opposed to any fantastical story not in the Bible. (Even most believers don't think some of the events described therein are literally true.) Two of those books we were even assigned to us in high school.

I wonder if she doesn't like A Wrinkle in Time because it warns of the dangers of conformism, or because Madeleine L'Engle is Catholic. (That sounds tinfoil hatty, but so does banning A Wrinkle In Time for "language.")

Do you have a link to that list?

i did see one mistake in the list of both achievements, it says Paling went to University of Idaho, but according to wiki, she went to North Idaho College, a community college.

Just as well, really. I think you were confusing "Dominatrix" and "Fascist", and that never ends well.

This list reads like a list of all the lies made up about Obama...except this list actually is true

It seriously boggles my mind. Each successive thing. Like, no, she can't REALLY have ties to an extremist secessionist group whose founder died buying plastic explosives... but she DOES. Unless all the news outlets are engaged in a conspiracy. Which, I'm sure some would claim about The New York Times, but (right-wingish) Politico and (located in Alaska) The Anchorage Daily News.

Talk about people this is a boon for, though. ADN's hit must be through the roof this last week.

Can you imagine if there was even a hint that Obama had ties to any such group? He would be over as a candidate. But with her? Eh just ignore it.

I know. The double standard is so wide it can only be measured from space.
