Well, I got an 86%, which is funny since I was in like the top 5 people of my high school class. What's a dangling modifier?

I'm not sure, I took a guess and chose the first option, which I think ended up being right. The sentence was, "Being very patriotic, the flag inspires me every day." The first part of the sentence modifies an unclear subject; it's not certain *what* is being very patriotic, even though we can surmise the writer means her/him-self.

I could be wrong. I never learned proper parts of speech and grammar.

This is the sort of reason people do get things wrong. A lot of that stuff I just never learned, at all, so of course you guess, which won't always be right. You can take educated guesses all you want, but it won't really help if you've never heard of cubism.

Oh, and, yes, that is correct. A dangling modifier is a word or phrase that modifies a word not clearly stated in the sentence. So, in that case, "Being very patriotic" does not modify "flag" (which is what general rules would say it does), but instead "I". It would not have been dangling if it said "Being very patriotic, I am inspired..."
