Have you been paying attention to the elections in Liberia? Ellen J. was elected president. I am a little disappointed but once there is peace, that is fine with me.

My disappointment is from the fact that she was am active participant in the war. I think electing former warlords or participants sets a bad precident. When we elect people that try to use violence to gain power it only fuels more violence. This is one of the reasons we have so many wars in Africa as a whole and this also prolong the wars.

I am a feminist and would love to see more women in power, in government and corporation, and better rights for women as a whole in Africa. With regards to her education and past achievements, I totally respect her that, and not to mention that she was the most qualified among the 22 people that ran.

Now that is she president, I will just have to support her and hope that she makes women pride and help support the reintegration of the many child soliders that she help arm.
