Dozens of them, all different breeds and colours!

I am on my way, bella!

[Wooooosh and seconds later there he is, hopping along in the stables.]

How did I miss this place for so long?!

[Horseshorseshorses!]

[Evelyn is just now untacking her horse, and pauses mid-removal-of-saddle, adjusting it on the animal's back. She smiles broadly at Miguel.

They last met such a long time ago.]

I've no idea how I missed it either. Do you ride?

[Well, that's a difficult question. He wasn't really wealthy enough to own his own horse, obviously, but that didn't mean he didn't ride horses. They just didn't belong to him.]

You could say that, si! You seem very practiced, bella.

I had to learn when I was very young.

[Rocking back on her heels, Evie peers down the hall of stalls, then back to Miguel.]

...do you want to pick one to ride or name? None of them have names, you know.

He wanders down the aisle and, finally, finds one that looks something like this.]

[Evie strolls along behind him, peering at the animal.]

The Second?

[She sounds curious.]

Was there a first?

Ah, yes. Altivo. He looked a lot like this one.

[Pause. Wait...

...Glance.]

Except he was a boy. La Segunda, I guess.

[She laughs, moving around to pet its nose.]

You are from Spain, then?

[He almost has that Barcelona lisp to his accent, but not quiet.]

What year?

1519?

[Holy moly, that's...wow. That's a long time ago.]

O-Oh, my. Um...um, yes, I'm from Great Britain. England is what...what they're calling it now.

What year?

[He's gotten used to there being drastic changes. The world of the future is another world entirely as far as he's concerned. In some cases more literally than others, but even someone like Evelyn who's probably from his direct future sees this place very differently from he does.]

1926.

[Over four hundred years.]

Are you an adventurous sort of person, Miguel?

Wow...

[Future girls are sexy.]

You could say that, si.

[He grins at her.]

What about you, bella?

[She grins back.]

You could say that. Adventure is sort of a part of my profession.

[At least, it was going to be until she got thrown off a boat into a river and ended up here.]
