Lol I went through a similar experience trying to drill holes in my door frame to finish putting up a chain lock. I finally gave up and ended up supergluing the fucker. Problem solved.

lol I tried superglue first, but it didn't work at all. Even if it had, the bathroom gets so humid, I doubt that it would have held. Glad it worked for you though and welcome back to LJ :)
