If this isn't allowed, I'll take it down:

I have come to the conclusion that this fandom is seriously lacking in crossovers (with fandoms outside of Doctor Who). The crossovers that do exist tend to do silly things like make sense within both of the series' timelines.

So, in the spirit of the newly posted Matthew Graham fic and my own wish for strange crossovers, I propose:

The Life On Mars Cracked out Crossover Challenge1

I have spent all of ten minutes thinking up different prompts/scenarios. This was very hard work, and I will be expecting responses.

This current list is pretty US media-centric, but feel free to add more prompts in the comments and I'll add them to the list.

Transformers: The cortina is secretly an autobot (probably Bumblebee) (suggested by aliascancerbaby

Midsomer Murders (suggested by jadekirk)

Diagnosis Murder (suggested by jadekirk)

Halo: Master Chief goes into stasis lock and wakes up in 1973. Is he crazy, still in stasis, or back in time? (suggested by aliascancerbaby)

Good Omens: (Manchester is one of Crowley's cities after all!) What if Sam had been hit by a certain 1926 Bentley? (suggested by jexxer)

The Mighty Boosh: (suggested by rekkarfox)

My Name Is Earl: Earl could have run Sam over, and then the TCG appears and sends him to 1973 to help Sam return. (suggested by ms_treesap)

The Good:2

Arrested Development: 'I think Sam is hiding Annie in the attic' 'From who, the Nazis?'
OR: Sam is emo and walks away, head hanging down, to the strains of 'Christmas Time is Here'
OR: Life on Mars as an episode of Arrested Development.

Buffy: After finally getting hit on the head one too many times, Giles finally wakes up in a coma (see the third season episode, Gingerbread). He spends less time worrying about being in the past than he does about Cordelia being right.
OR Sam and Buffy: They both just want to feel. Discuss.

Dead Like Me: Mason is reaping in Manchester, and Gene's suspicious of the junkie that's always hanging around whenever a bizarre accidental death takes place. Bonus points for Rube.3

Highlander: Someone, having seen Sam in 1973, mistakes 2006!Sam for an immortal. Hilarity ensues.

Thursday Next Series: No plot for this one, but Thursday Next was made for crossovers. It shouldn't be too hard to think of something.

The Bad:

Due South: No explanation given for the time travel in this one-this is a canon where dead fathers live in a cabin accessible from the coat closet, deaf half-wolves can read lips, and Chicago looks a lot like Toronto with the addition of a men's only hotel. It can handle a little bit of random time travel without consequences. I also don't actually have a plot for this one-it just involves defenestration, even more confusion about various Rays, and more daddy issues than one fic should ever have.

Harry Potter: This is one of the few fandoms I've seen where nobody has been sent to Hogwarts. Yet.4

The Gunslinger: Sam has slipped between worlds.

Sandman: This fandom is missing the obligatory Endless-interact-with-characters crossover. I find this to be a damn shame. C'mon-Dream? Death? Delirium? Despair? You're telling me that they've got nothing to say?

The Ugly:

Battlestar Galactica: Sam is the final cylon. They boxed him because he was too fucked up, even for them.

Eats, Shoots and Leaves: Sam is actually stuck in a comma.

Firefly: River replaces the test card girl, makes friends with the test card girl, or is made of chocolate.

Where's Waldo: CID is searching for a tall, thin man brown haired man wearing glasses and a red and white ski cap.

Alf: . . .

Answer in whatever form you like (fic, drabbles, art, vids, icons, sestinas, villanelles). Answer prompts that someone else has already done. Make it a parody, make the prompt make sense, or make them meet at a bar at the end of the universe. Combine them in whatever way possible. Make up your own prompts for others. Just have fun.

1Well, more Forceful Suggestion. Challenges tend to have things like organization or planning.
2Please don't mistake anything in the good section to actually be good, or even better than anything in the bad section. I just needed to be able to put something there.
3This goes for all of the prompts. Rube always equals bonus points. Even if his presence makes no sense.
4Please don't kill me.

genre: crack, genre: crossover
