Disappointment.

Telling my dad that William is moving in was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I finally did it though. And I cried for a good hour afterwards, walked to TCBY (still crying mind you) and ordered the largest cone they had of chocolate yogurt. Ate the whole thing, and then cried for another hour ( Read more... )

I actually went through this a couple of years ago with Emily when she and her boyfriend (now husband) wanted to move in together. Of course her dad is practically my adopted father, so we both knew what was coming. Even still, we were both surprised at his reaction (a very hard "no thank you slash you're totally cut off now"). However, what surprised us even more was how quickly he got over it.

I'm sure you already figured this out, but your dad just needs a little time to adjust to the fact that his little girl isn't so little anymore. As a parent, I now have to deal with the fact that one day my own daughter will be calling to tell me her fella is gonna be the new roomie, and honestly it keeps me awake at night. What's funny is that I'm pretty sure my morals are no where near as high as your dad's and the idea still scares me. But its something that will eventually come to pass for all parents; and we will subsequently adjust to it. I hope that helps, and I'm really excited for you.

I love that you have a kid now. You always had that mom aura about you anyway. Thanks for the words of encouragement... I can't wait until he finally moves in!

I love you. You're so brave to stand up for what you want. You're so true...in the end only God can judge you not your father nor his family. Good luck with everything and I can't wait for you to play house with William. It'll be fun and exciting to not only live with the one you love but also to know you are able to make adult life changing decisions. Yay! :)
