[Slugger isn't used to having "guests" in the house. So when they arrive, he'll be hanging back wondering who these people are.]

[In the time prior to the arrival of her Grandfather and his 'family', Susan had busied herself making the house slightly more presentable. The plague of cats had, with typical Mayfield spite, given way to a plague of cat hair -- and other somewhat less pleasant cat castoffs, the chief offender going 'squish' under her feet whenever she accidentally trod on the yellow spots in the carpet. In the end, she had decided that the scent of pine was preferable to the scent of stale urine, which may explain why the house has sprouted an inordinate amount of Hogswatch cheer and why the dining room resembles a coniferous forest ( ... )

Happy Hogswatch, Grandfather. Make yourself at home. You always do, anyway.

[Edward's in the study, poring over his notes on Mayfield and being incredibly antisocial. Who wants to bring him downstairs?]

[He jumps a bit at the disturbance. Ever since Johan breaking-and-entering, he's been a bit more paranoid as of late. He looks down to find only... a sock? Really?]

[There is a folded piece of paper sticking out of it. When opened it reads, in dark scratchy handwriting:

what is green and used to serve pudding?

hint - it is worn on Edward's head. ]

[Arslan will do any proper greetings he needs to, then find his way to sort of watch events, as well as look at anything that may be different from where he lives here in Mayfield.]

[Otherwise, he's not sure exactly how to operate in a slightly-informal gathering like this, and will just look a little confused somewhere off to the side.]

[How had her parents managed to host parties assembling half the peerage of Sto Lat? Susan was getting a headache just managing a half dozen people as a hostess, but then again, she was rather prone to those.

Arslan may be taken aback a bit by the woman that appears beside him -- Although if that's the case, he may wonder how he could have failed to notice someone with such a presence.]

Arslan, isn't it? Grandfather likes to refer to you as my 'stepfather'.

[If Arslan is taken aback, he is very careful to hide it, though a bit of confusion passes his face, before he smiles faintly.]

Your stepfather? Whatever does that mean?

[A Teatime free day is like a picnic in the park. Pleasant and carefree, but also rather boring after the first hour.]
