06 - The coloring is a bit oversaturated, the colors on his face too bright, and the combined with the crop that leads the eye to his cheek as a focal point.
06 - Great use of shadows and light.

01 - The text over the face is too big and awkward looking; doesn't fit the crop very well.
01 - I really like the crop and the coloring, not so sure about the text, but as a whole it still works.
01 - Given the type of crop you've gone for in this icon, using text to cover up the majority of the image lessens the impact of the icon. Using a wider crop and then placing the text over top might have been more effective. You might also have attempted small text, placing it in the shadows on the left side so that the crop was enhanced while still keeping the text.
