Oh, now that's fantastic! I love the opening - great imagery. And the closing - what great bookends. Also the "second ended like the crack of gunshot" is great.

Oh, thank you, Ri! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it, and well, it was a lot of fun to write. Definitely a different sort of perspective.

Haven't seen you around in a while... you taking a break from LJ?

Yeah, break. Not really self-imposed. Work has gotten crazy (weird schedules and huge layoffs that have made my life a living hell) and massive impending decisions about the fall. Plus I'm taking some online coursework that is *much* harder than previously effective (economics is of the devil, I say!). Still, it was nice to get a lovely kind of break and read this :)

Work is hellish indeed; it's my belief that economics fucks up more things than it rights.
But OH! I have only just remembered: I'm in mid-year break, so I can do all sorts of annoying things like merrily dance around you and flick bits of paper in the general direction of your ear. :)
