i am headed out for a drink to mourn a dog. her name was jelly and i really liked her. she was a cute, sweet, full of personality english bulldog that ended up with some pneumonia following a foreign body removal surgery. she came in on friday and looked fantastic by sunday night. we played and cuddled and watched her look her cutest ( Read more... )

aww, drink one for me too. I had to process a necropsy on an english bulldog named Jake today and the owners were just devastated at losing him. Poor little doggies. : (

dude, it was the perfect name. she had all this extra skin flopping around and you could just say jelly jelly jelly jelly as she walked and waddled :)

That's devastating Dani. I'm glad you're there for these little critters.

It's good you're making time for yourself, because someone has to look out for Dani in all this as well.

I thought about volunteering @ Hospice once upon a time, before I started volunteering at Ear, I just don't know if I can hack it.

Did you have a hand in naming this dog? ;)

i didn't! :) but i thought it was great. i only just met her on friday. death is hard to deal with, especially sudden death. if you're strong enough though, its completely worth it to know you made someones last days/minutes/moments easier. even if its a dog :)

Jelly was so blessed to have such compassionate caretakers in her last days!! Stories like this make me so thankful to know there are people out there like you helping furbabies. I just couldn't do it.
