it crowded against my windowsill

I had an awesome weekend with my friend Kate: we did a lot of tourist things (straight out of my childhood) and went to Boston Pride. There will be photos when she gets back from Ireland and uploads her half. Also, I think I'll be ready to be more social quite soon. Not this week, but soon ( Read more... )

Yay Pride! I totally chickened out, but next year we should hit the friday night Dyke March.

Tell me about Hellboy? I've been curious, but unable to figure out how to start.

I have a silly thing about the history of comics on my tivo, and cats, whenever you're feeling it.

Ooh, we really should. I totally missed it this year because I was oblivious and didn't realize it was happening.

Hmmm. I'm enjoying Hellboy, but it took me awhile to get into. A lot of it is little stories adapted from obscure folktales, and they often don't have fully satisfying conclusions, they just kind of end (often tragically). It has a cast of interesting characters, though, who I really want to know more about; the style (both artistic and narrative) is engaging; and, I am a serious sucker for obscure folktales. My first couple volumes are in Northampton, but I can get them sometime soon if you'd like to borrow.

Ooh, that is extremely tempting. Would that be an evening thing, or something for weekend-time?

Once you're ready to be social (and I completely understand the need to not be social...), I am in the Boston area more or less from now until July 13th. My presence here is rather spotty these next couple weeks (although I'll definitely be around the second half of next week), but then I'll be in Newton from the 3rd to the 13th. So we should hang out sometime!

We should definitely hang out. Preferably multiple times. :) I am largely unscheduled on weekday evenings, except Tuesdays (guitar classes).

Also, because I totally missed your post: CONGRATULATIONS! That sounds completely amazing; way to go!

Want to grab dinner on the 25th (That's next Wednesday)? I'll be in the Harvard Square area then (like, a block away from Harvard square)

Sure, I'd definitely be up for that. :) I can get to Harvard Square by 5:30ish, 6 at the latest (on a really slow T day). I might wind up dragging you to my comic shop, if you don't mind (new comic day and all); it's right off the square.

I haven't seen the lion cam, but I used to be quite the fan of the owl cam, especially when there were chicks.

If you like Hellboy, find a copy of Atomic Robo (the tpb shipped this week). It's heavier on the humor, and I loved it dearly.
I got Y the Last Man, but I haven't read it yet. It'll be sad when I'm done with the series.

Ooh, thanks for the rec! I've been wanting some new stuff to check into (not that I should go spending the money, but hey).

Yeah, I'm very sad to be done with Y, now; I loved it from beginning to end. Would be interested to hear your thoughts, when you finish.
