Nov 18, 2016 02:29

This isn't the first time I've wrestled this demon. He and I are old friends, I suppose. He's as much of a friend as I have left these days anyhow, and he likes it that way. We always tease, he and I, and he always casts his love for me into the ring. We go back and forth with our japes and jibes like an intimate foreplay.

This scared me. At the same invigorated. I assume it's about alcohol, but maybe it's not. Maybe it's a stronger drug, maybe it's sex, maybe it's an actual demon. Whatever it is, it was loud and powerful.

Thanks, man... this is possibly the coolest comment I've ever gotten... I was hoping it was enough to grip the reader but not be too much. :)

Ooh interesting! I was thinking the same thing that maybe it was alcoholism, or maybe an actual demon. It's quite compelling. I think my favorite phrase is "insistent nausea of need." Cool alliteration and also, weirdly, it reminded me of pregnancy, when my hunger would go from 0 to 60 and when it hit, I felt instantly so intensely hungry that I felt completely nauseated as well. It was so weird!

I can see that pregnancy connection... I was miserable and would lose my mind until I ate... :)

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

My gawd, I love this.

This line, this... They are the undead created by despair and I am one of them.

If depression could be distilled to one sentence, this is it. (IMHO) Thank you for this piece. I devoured it and now am hungry for more of your words! Hugs and peace~~~D
