Well I think the reason why O' Brien wrote this book was to get his opinion of the war out. Not a lot of people experience war and when they watch a movie they see it in "Hollywood's" point of view. I agree with u.. A lot of people never expierienced war and I think he's just trying to get a message across. I think you're right about the whole Hollywood thing because what do we all know about war? Pretty much nothin.. We hear some things on the news and in the newspapers but other than that we never SEEN it.. All we've seen are things that happen in the movies. I think you're on task lol..

So i totally agree with you about that O'Brien wrote this book to get his own opinion out about war. I think that Hollywood does exaggerate war and you don't get alot out of the movie except for some tears because there is always a love sotry involved. It is hard though to take as being true in the book and what is false. I do think that writing this book does give him closure in his life and he is at peace with himself!
