I'm a Snape fangirl but I expected him to fight more than he did. I don't know, maybe he was just tired of it all but after the way he reacted when Harry called him a coward I expected more of him.
I expected more out of the final confrontation between Voldemort and Harry too.
The epilogue, argh, it was horrible. Its like she just gave up and gave us what most of the fans wanted. But the Albus Severus and "Bravest person I know" that was "Awww...." inducing ^_^
Yeah, I mean Arthur somehow survived 3 snake bites from Nagini and didn't die right away! Geesh! I don't know why she decided to kill him off like that, it makes no sense in canon!
Snape was bit in the neck though. Indeed, a very bad spot to be bitten, hense why Snape died. Nagini could have bitten his jugular or whatever...I'm pretty sure the jugular is in the neck, but I've been wrong before.
I have to agree that the epiloge was rather cheesy. But it had its good points. I mean, after all of Harry's suffering he finally gets to settle down and raise a family. He deserves to have a cheesy mega-happy family.
He certainly didn't seem nice in OoTP where he was practically threatening Lily to go out with him.
You saw that too! ::hugs:: Thank you. Sometimes I felt like I was the only one who felt like James was on the verge of blackmailing Lily with SNape's safety to force her to date him. Which was why Snape used such a nasty term. He needed to make her angry, so James couldn't use their friendship to wicked ends. Only Lily didn't let him explain after.I was disappointed in her for that-- didn't their long friendship mean anything? Didn't she remember, before they went to Hogwarts, Snape thinking her Muggle parents weren't an issue and she could be a Slytherin if she wanted?
I'm writing lots of fanfic to deal with the things that disappointed me.
Yay and you saw it too? I actually made entries about James way back when but I don't think we were friends yet. That is perhaps why Snape called her that. I'm disappointed in her character in general. I expected more from her, but she seems a lot like Ginny in many respects. The only female I really liked was Luna and Hermione too a bit. Why did JKR write Lily so much like Ginny anyway? It's somewhat disturbing, like Harry married his mother. I got off on a tangent sorry.
But yeah, I never have really liked James. I wondered if he was evil even.
I've seen the similarity between Ginny and Lily, too, and wrote a couple of fics where Snape found it a little disquieting (in the sense of not wanting to develop feelings for a student
( ... )
I suppose she did. It's like Snape lost all of his character or something. No, the final book did not live up to it's expectations. I mean, why were the Deathly Hallows in there anyway? They didn't add to the story at all except that Harry wouldn't use them, so what's even the point? I don't understand! What happened to her writing?!! It's like it fell apart! Maybe I expected way too much but I believe the other books were more rounded than this one...
Snape's death was rather sad; I don't think he saw it coming because he was focused on wanting to get out there and protect Harry. As to Lily, I think she might have loved Snape, but calling her a mudblood like that when she was on his side was inexcusable. Yes, by all means...tell her to stay out of it, but you don't attack the hand that feeds you, and sometimes there are consequences to actions that make you regret what you did for the rest of your life. I think that is the situation between Snape and Lily, plus he was going down a path that she found repellent. I think they might have ended up together had he not done as he did.
As for the ending, I rather liked it. After the terrible death toll, I found some closure in it.
I suppose that could be so about Snape's death. But he's like a Potions Master! He should have had a potion on him or something! Arthur Weasley got bitten 3 times by the same snake and didn't die right away!
I don't know that Lily loved Snape. She seemed rather a bitch to me, like she wanted to cut off their friendship. So I think that's what she did. He made one mistake and she cuts off their long friendship even though he was sorry. He should have had more chances.
I think I expected too much from this book. I'm reading it again anyway, maybe I'll be happier then.
I got the impression that he might have died more from loss of blood than anything else, but I could be wrong. Who knows, maybe he isn't really dead..JK never said he was dead...she said his hand thudded to the floor and moved no more. So he may not actually be dead. :P

I agree with you totally! The epilogue could have come from any one of the smarmy, wrapped-up-with-a-bow fanfic endings, but I have to admit, I was all girly and in love with it. :) It just needed to be written a bit better, and go into a bit more depth.
I'm glad she showed Snape's...not kindness, exactly, but willingness to leave Darth Voldie and the Dark Side. Plus, in my head, he's not dead. He valiantly fought the snake and discovered Harry and helped fight in the battle, and became a big, mushy hero, and had a tawdry affair with me. :)
A bunch of my theories weren't even mentioned, along with stuff that JK had hinted at and seems to have forgotten. Still...I'm happy enough with the ending.
Yeah the epilogue blah! I'm not really happy with it, only with the Albus Severus part a bit. It definitely needed more depth.
Haha on the Snape part. :) That's definitely more along the lines of what I was thinking. I'm just disappointed because it's the end. I've always followed the canon religiously so I'm having troubles imagining different endings.
A lot of my theories weren't in there either. I thought there was some big mystery just waiting until the 7th book to be revealed. More than just Snape, something to do with Harry as well.
I'm not very happy I'm afraid. I wish I was though really. :(
