And I love not-subtle!Ryan and that scene of Ryan watching Brendon in the parking lot just broke my heart. And Brendon re-learning 'his own way to live with himself'; so beautiful and quiet and hopeful, god.
You amaze me with everything you write. ♥

"What if he doesn't?" Ryan asks.
"Then you call 911 when he overdoses on ADHD medication, obviously," Pete says. Ryan's throat goes dry and his head spins.
"That's not funny," Ryan says roughly, voice spiked with vehemence.
"I wasn't joking," Pete says. "It's just. I'm trying to say. You can't control how bad things can get, okay? You can't keep him safe if he doesn't want to be."
Yeah, ouch. I probably re-read those lines four times. :[
Time and time again, girl. You bring the best angst. I love getting Ryan's perspective of this story, because I remember reading Brendon's and aching to know more about where Ryan was coming from. Like, he was a weird shadow that kept passing through Brendon's moments. All shape-shifty and vague, thanks to Brendon's perspectives. I don't even know. This made sense of all that and it was hurt in all the right ways. The good ways.
Yeaaahhhh, I love you and this. <3

That little chunk of conversation was so tough to write, I re-did it about a million times, so I'm extra glad to hear that it worked so well for you ♥
I love you too, dude.

First of all, I have to say I always look forward to reading your Brendon, whether from inside his own head or inside Ryan's. My own grasp on him always seems so flimsy in light of your construction of him. He seems very real.
I also like how this not only clarifies where Ryan was really coming from, but takes everything a little further; it really is like the next (logical!) step in the progression, with Brendon maybe starting to find his center again, to find Ryan again. Speaking purely selfishly, I totally needed that breath of hope right now. *clings to OTP etc. etc.*
