That was oddly one of the main things I remembered about American Gods. That and the waitress who killed the kitten (which is why I can't read the book again) and Czernobog.

Norse Code is a fun book of Norse gods in America.

Yeah, I normally can't handle reading about hurting animals.

It is fun, but I wouldn't call it literature. ;) I'm gonna reread it soon though. Very different take.
