Facebook Charity Groups...

Am i the only one who thinks joining a facebook group is probably the LEAST EFFECTIVE way (next to prayer) to help anyone or any cause?STOP SENDING ME INVITES! I won't be joining any of a thousand arbitrary facebook groups just because i agree that child prostitution is wrong. I think knowing that people were thinking of me would help me out a lot. It doesn't matter if some other being gets the message, just knowing people -care- enough to take a moment to think of me getting better is a psychological boost. It'd be better if the outright talk to me, but something is better than nothing.

Otherwise, FB groups are just one of the many ways people think they are doing something helpful without actually doing something. They have a place in that they provide information and networking opportunities (like, I am in an artist trading card group and I've had trades from that). Information and awareness are key parts to activism. I hardly ever check groups if I join them though, and I figure a lot of people are like that too.

I agree.

I also don't understand these gifts of virtual flowers and candy. I can understand sending people real flowers or candy but these virtual gifts make no sense at all.
