After Chase left the office, House headed down to Cuddy's office. There were times when delaying wasn't the best move.

He didn't bother knocking before he let himself into her office. "I'm hiring an attending."

House settled Jeannie in his office with her snack and collared Cameron to keep an eye on her. Not that Cameron minded--after all, Jeannie was little and cute. Perfect for Cameron.

It looked like Stephen was gone when House got down to Wilson's room, which House appreciated. He'd have less explaining to do.

"Hantavirus," he announced.

The downside of all but living at the hospital, besides it happening because Wilson's trying to die, is that House only gets to spend time with his family when they're at the hospital. It doesn't take much noise to get House's attention, especially when it's coming from a kid who could be his.

And is his, as it turns out.

"Jeannie?" He drops to crouch beside her, taking in the blood and tilting her head so he can see where it's coming from. "What happened?"

Since the portal's insanity seems to have finally died down, House plans to take the opportunity to get Jeannette her kitten. He hasn't even mentioned the idea to her, in case it's something he can't pull off, but now that there's an opportunity, that's going to change.

"Jeannie?" he calls. "Can you come here?"

House hadn't realized his eyesight had deteriorated until he spent a week as a seventeen-year-old. As soon as he re-aged and figured it out, he collared an ophthalmologist and got his eyesight checked. Apparently, he was still good on distance, but close up, he needed glasses. Cameron's arrival sparks a debate over what, exactly, 'last' means. Foreman claims he should get a turn after Chase, because he was there first, and Chase argues that he goes after Foreman, so he should get another turn before Cameron does. House had promised Zelda he'd take her to get her license as soon as he thought she was ready. She'd learned faster than he expected, even out on residential roads and a few main ones, so today was the day he was taking her down there.

He got to Chase's, fully expecting her to be completely excited, and knocked on the door.

Since it had been a fairly snow-free winter, House figured he'd take Zelda out for her first lesson. He'd gotten Foreman to help out with getting the bikes out to the country, and he was supposed to be bringing Zelda soon ( Read more... )

It's been all House can do to keep Foreman from knowing how bad his leg's gotten, just overnight. He pretends to sleep through when Foreman leaves for work, then takes his car instead of his bike in. By noon, he's taken nearly as many Vicodin as he does in a usual day, and he can't chalk it up to the weather or sleeping wrong anymore. He collars ( Read more... )
