I'm still alive, just

This morning I had my first, and hopefully last, car crash, all my fault I got distracted and didn't pull out enough to get round a stationary lorry. I hit the the lorry while travelling about 30 miles per hour and my left hand front bumper hit the lorry rear driver side wheel my bumper took the hit very well there wasn't even much of a crumple in ( Read more... )

No Arnica cream unfortunately but a bag of ice in the freezer has helped enormously. An ice pack has reduced the swelling and limited the bruising. My problem now is aches in places I didn't think were hurt when it happened.

I am glad it wasn't more serious. It sounds like it could have been worse. Hopefully you were going slow enough whiplash won't be a problem.

Here's hoping the bruising goes down and you get over the fright as well as the dogs do.

No whiplash I was slowing down as I hit Tried an emergency brake but was too close for it to be effective. My back and shoulder are aching a bit. I forgot to take an ice block with me last week when I went freezer shopping so I bought a bag of ice to keep my frozen food frozen in the cool box. It has earned it's purchase price today as ice pack material.

Physically you may not be too bad, but give it a few days to calm down properly. I only witnessed a couple of cars having a minor coming together in front of me and it was three days before I stopped being a bit jumpy. Give the girls a cuddle as much as you can, it'll help.

Mind you, you are the generation and have the temperament to pick yourself up and get on with dealing with what needs to be done. Thank goodness it wasn't worse.

You're right there. I learned it of Mam and Gran. Gran had 'kept calm and carried on' in 2 World Wars and Mam in 1 and their attitude to crises was catching.
Kandi has more or less forgotten about it, she has the typical short term memory of dogs, the emphasis being on short, but Saffron keeps coming for cuddles, I don't know if she realises I need cuddles or if she is still slightly shocked and needs reassurance. She wants to lap sit and that's not like her. They were both trembling like Aspens when I got them out. I am turning purple on my upper left body and I ache all over but ATM I'm quite calm. I hope I stay this way,

My dear friend, I am so glad it wasn´t worse!!! You were lucky!
Well, you are not the only one who had an accident because of a lack of concentration...
Be careful and watch your breast. And have a proper rest!
Poor girls, it is almost like having children in a car...could you give them some tickles also from me?

I'm aching and bruised but very calm, I might have hysterics tomorrow but I think I'm out of shock now. So is Kandi, typical dog her memory is very short term but Saffron wants to sit on my lap all the time which isn't like her, I'm afraid I can't let her ATM as she leans against my chest and it hurts. Wee will have lots of cuddles in bed tonight.

Apart from my left side turning purple from neck to hip, seat belts save lives but they give some powerful bruises, I was lucky no whiplash and no broken bones. The girls were just very shaken. Kandi seems to have forgotten all about it but Saffron is still a bit shaken.
She wants to sit on my lap and she is not a lap dog normally. Unfortunately she will lean against me and that is more than a little painful ATM.
