For the last few weeks, we haven't been having traditional services; we've been meeting and praying and working through materials provided by the denomination.

Today, at the end of our prayer time, the council president announced that we'll continue with the prayer meetings for two more weeks, then have regular services for Palm Sunday and Easter. ( Read more... )

We had to buy Rick new shoes (again) since his current pair disintegrated. They happen to be really cool Spiderman shoes that light up. I'm glad for his sake; he's been wanting light-up shoes for a while, but I hadn't seen any in the big kid sizes. It's nice that his last pair of kid-sized shoes light up. *sigh* From here on out, he's in adult

A month or two ago, our church council president made an annoucement during the service: our church desperately needs to rethink what it's doing and how it's doing it. There are literally not enough people who have enough time to run the church and administer our property rental.

I had a lovely weekend visiting with my college roommate and her family this weekend! It was really great to catch up and see how much her son has grown. We saw a fabulous show - Doubt - performed by Ten Thousand Things. It was really, really good. It was a great mini-vacation.

This is not our ordinary sprinkles-with-delusions of grandeur; no, this is actual RAIN. They're forecasting an inch or two today. Parts of the county have already received more than an inch since midnight.

I was wondering why the bank said we had so much more money than my checkbook said we had - then I reconciled the bank statement and the check register and found out that 4 checks I'd written at the beginning of the month had not cleared.
