How strange is it when you realize you've lost some techno you paid over $100 for and your stomach drops and you get really pissed at yourself for being careless and then you come to find that the very same techno is being dumped for $25 now that there are newer, better, shinier versions, so then you don't feel bad anymore? In early 1955, my Dad paid $589* for a 1954 Philips 21" TV console (it was a former floor model with 800 hours on it, so he got a deal); what kind of technology would that dollar amount buy you today?

That made me all sorts of curious so I looked at an inflation calculator that tells me that $600 in 1955 would be $5,128.21 in 2012, which isn't far off from what my ex paid for his TV. So....
