I'm soon to leave my librarian job and faculty position at (now, what did I call it?) "Tiny Cozy College."

How will it be, to be easing into "retirement" as "Dr. Linden @large"? More time for research and writing but also for uncertainty. Fewer contentious faculty meetings but also fewer budgets and admin. Swings and roundabouts.

A lot has changed. Am I really the same person who was here so many years ago? I get to put "Dr." in front of my name now. That means a whole new gravitas and level of Ravenclaw fulfillment. Librarianship goes on, though. In many ways I'm the same and yet... not. Are any old aquaintences back on LJ? Only time will tell.

Well, I see that my earlier dissertating days spoiled me - making my own schedule, time and energy for thought... Being a librarian and adjunct instructor is wearing me out. Having resisted for this long, I find myself at the moment with time on my hands and thus am beginning to post. Whether this will be a short-lived fling or a long, satisfying obsession remains to be seen.

I've been enjoying hearing about Infinitus 2010 and seeing pictures. Maybe someday I will fly down from my ivory tower and try out a con.
