WOW. This was lovely and wonderful and you basically read my mind. This was everything I wanted in terms of addressing how they've changed since the garden party/confession and Branson's distance and Sybil's hesitancy and the disconnect and fear of resentment and I could go on forever.

(And my favorite part was the exchange about the cottage belong to Robert vs. Branson.)

Yes, yes, this was perfect. I wanted to write something where they discussed everything, but was too lazy and am not sure I could have done it justice like you have here. This was just lovely and quite realistic. Poor Branson being even more confused after Sybil kissed him! I would be as well.
