I'll admit it, I have no idea what exactly they did to make the sun come out because I have no head for science at all. But this totally felt like a TOS episode (half the time I don't understand those either, LOL), what with the strange omnipotent being and the time limit and the clever resolution. I really enjoyed watching Jim and company in action as they dealt with the darkness, especially Jim helping to pass out meals. I loved the line about the crew eating lasagna and playing violin solos to each other. ♥ Oh, and the exchange with Jim hoping no one was disappointed when his clothes came off. :-D
That's because the episodes made no sense, either; I heard one of the original writers say, "If anyone thinks we ever did anything for any other reason than because it made good TV, they're fooling themselves." So glad you enjoyed it and got a giggle out of it!
Happy Solstice, friend! And what a spectacular one it's been, what with the eclipse [that I slept through] and all! (I totes jumped on Dec. 21 when the posting post went up.)
Darling, once again I am blown away by the sheer imaginative power of this story. Told with such elegance, this was simple and lovely and fun! The comraderie of the crew, the easy, loving relationship between Jim & Bones, the female Q--all of it, including your wonderful nerdy notes, a fabulous tale. Well done!
"Be more French"? Love it, love it. For someone who obsessively monitors every minute of regained daylight as we begin our inexorable march toward warmer temps and the summer solstice --and my birthday, incidentally--this fic was especially delightful. Kirk's faith in his crew is sweet and justified and it's especially gratifying to see him employing his captainly people skills. Reboot fics have been somewhat short of that commodity.
Your birthday is on the summer solstice? Wicked cool! How appropriate if you're someone who needs the sun (though your sweet icon suggests you don't mind gray skies as long as they bring some snow). Thank you so much, as always, for your lovely comments.

I love fics that show how great Kirk and the crew are, and you always bring the science, the characters and fun and emotion to stories.

There aren't enough science-y and episode-y stories out there (I know I'm stuck in AU land atm and I'm fully blaming emily for that) :D
