Magnolia Stellata (Kirk/McCoy, PG-13)

A little something for my glorious captain sangueuk's birthday. Being smart, deep and badass, she loves sex mixed with philosophy, and so I went and wrote slightly shmoopy angst. Maybe imagining them all with Southern accents will help.

Summary: Jim accompanies Bones to the McCoy annual picnic, which under the circumstances counts as a favor, especially in ( Read more... )

Way to almost break me, bb! Seriously, had my heart in my throat the entire time. *hugs Bones* Poor guy. He just couldn't deal and wouldn't tell Jim about it. Oh, Jim!

I'd gush more enthusiastically, but I'm on my phone and this comment has taken long enough to get right.

Gorgeous, hon!

Don't worry, I could NEVER keep the boys broken up permanently. Thank you so much for the lovely comment!

Oooh, this is gloriously hurty and wonderful. Poor Leonard for not being able to suss out exactly what it is that made him pull away for so long, and poor Jim for suffering through it. God, MEN!

But the ending is sweet and hopeful and I love to read when Jim can make Leonard laugh. I'm wearing a fishing shirt today (no, really, a Columbia fly-fishing shirt, because...ohgawdyeah I fly-fish), so I get the catch&release.

And OMG! Pigeon Forge! Really??

Lovely and wonderful.

I'll cop to fantasizing a future in which the Smokies are purged of all tacky tourist traps (even if it's to make way for bland semi-retirement communities).

You FLY FISH? IS there no end to your awesome? (Don't tell the captain, she won't be able to keep her hands off you.)

Bones can be such a dumbass, sometimes. Guess he's damn lucky that Jim doesn't really give up that easy. ♥

This was spectacular, in all the ways fic should be. Thank you! Loved, as I always do, your charming yet full of heart Jim, and your totally screwed up but trying so very hard McCoy.

YAY is what this fic is full of. YAY.

I should really try writing them a different way, but I love that dynamic...Bones doing his damnedest to screw up his life and Jim seeing it so clearly.

Yay for your YAY--thank you!

This is so beautiful. So pains-taking, trying to avoid causing and feeling pain and not handling it right. I love how deftly you handled the fight and Bones' mom and cousin were small gems of sparkling conversational wonder (that's dead, put it down made me LOL hard. And Jim's pain was so taut, so tight, and Bones too in the effort he's trying to keep everything to himself.

Ooof. A perfect, painful gutpunch of a fic, darling. I hope they work it out.

I come from a long line of Anglo-Saxon Avoiders, so that much, at least, comes from experience. Thank you for the lovely compliment, which always goes triple coming from you.
