Tomorrow is likely to be hard but at least he is not suffering any more.

It's a lovely day here in Edinburgh as I make my last preparations for the RSNO tour to Spain. We go to Murcia, Pamplona, Salamanca, Leon, Madrid and Zaragoza. Mendelssohn, Sibelius, debussy and Ravel, and a bit of sunshine and some nice tapas, maybe the odd glass of rioja...I'm looking forward to it.

I know a lot of people are very shocked and worried about the situation in Burma right now after the cyclone, but feel reticent to donate to the charities as they are generally being denied access by the military government there ( Read more... )

The other day, Dad believed he was back in the days when my parents were still courting, and asked my Mum to marry him. How wierd is that, and how sweet? Only 54 years after the event had already taken place!

I went to a bear sanctuary today, and saw 7 bears, lots of peacocks and a wild boar. A ranger took me and my rickshaw driver down into the reserve to get a little closer to the bears, which was amazing. I was assured they are vegetarian...
Tomorrow is my last day in Hampi, then on saturday morning very early I leave for the train to goa.

I have just finished going round the many many temples and ruined palaces of Hampi, the ruined city vijayanagar (destroyed by the muslims mid 16th century). I took a guide, Kumar, so I learnt loads of stories about the hindu gods, depicted in carvings. I liked especially the one about ganesh, the elephant god, who liked to eat lots.
