i've been thinking about my life lately, in a big spread out whole-horizon way, a way i never have before, either because i didn't want to or didn't know how. you hitchhike along on other people's love and genius for a while until you find your own ride, i guess. but the past few weeks have left me in this wholly different state, where i want to ( Read more... )

boo i am so proud of you. i wish i could MAKE A DECISION about my future but every day i'm like "i should get my MFA in design" or "i should go to law school" or "i should get promoted at goody" or "i should move to new york and change jobs" - i wish i could have a focus. i am taking the LSAT in december though, i guess that's a start.

luckily creative writing is the only thing i think i'd want to study in grad school. ERIN THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU ARE GOOD AT TOO MANY THINGS.

Oh wow, I was taught by Christine (Bryant-Cohen) and Madonick last year. He scared the living shit out of me in the beginning. Have you ever had him?

Dude, that is so super exciting. Best of luck; you will be awesome. I will live vicariously through, at least until I am ready to go back for another degree. You know, once I figure out what I want to do.

My degree is in sociology and women's studies. My interests in grad studies would lean toward something feminist, but I'm also considering a less academic (ie. theory) MA route such as journalism or social work. IDK!

You'll do great. Don't let the GRE scare you. It's not that hard.

At some schools the MFA is a terminal degree like a PhD and you can be a "real" prof with just that. Not that a dissertation isn't its own brand of funn.

I'm so glad to hear you say all this. :) You should do whatever you want, and I'm happy you want this.

i'm not too intimidated by the GRE; i feel like i'm approaching it pretty logically. the studying i'm doing is already helping.

i guess that's true; i never thought about the MFA being enough before - thank you for pointing it out!

i'm happy i want it toooo julie :)
