Books, Authors, and Writing

Aug 14, 2008 10:19

This past weekend while UberGeek was at DefCon, the boys and I went to the bookstore (a favorite family pastime.) While there, I noticed a sign announcing the appearance of author, Deborah Grabien, for her most recent book, Rock 'n Roll Never Forgets. I didn't know if my Wednesday night would free up, but I marked it on my calendar ( Read more... )

That's just wonderful news about the triology, too! Knowing nothing about the industry, it does sound encouraging.

Exciting, isn't it? Film making takes forever to put together, but then once it's in place it's like an avalanche!

Oh, how wonderful to meet an author like that. I wish I knew when there were book signings around here. Not that any author I know ever makes their way to the east coast.

And awesome! I'm so excited for you, that everything seems so positive, even if it won't happen for awhile! That's just so brilliant for you!

It was a great pleasure, and it was extremely informative to go as well. I'm sure you have at least one bookstore in town who hosts these sorts of events. Don't you?

We're still keeping our fingers crossed, although the gasping for breath won't happen for some time, if at all. I'm still plugging away on the other stuff, so it's all good.

How are you? How are your EVE scenarios going?

Closest book store is in Oak Ridge, about 40 minutes away. How would I find out if they had anything?

I'm all right. Work isn't horrid, which is good. Though it's boring, a bit, and my feet are still complaining.

EVE is going okay. Got 4/10 that are due at the end of the month, and am brainstorming on the others.

I'd call the store and ask if they host special events or reading nights and see what they say.

Yeah, I remember the feet from when I worked at a theatre. All those hours on your feet are a shock to the system. It's when you learn to buy good shoes and not to care if they're terribly cute.

Good! 4/10 is good, and the brainstorming is even better. It'll keep your mind flexible while you're learning the humdrum of your daily routine.

It's screened? How wierd. Not only did I not mean to, but I haven't a clue how I managed it. I'll see if I can unscreen it, but all I really said was it looked as if you had a blast and had you thought about Azkatraz rather than Boston.

That is really, really strange. I couldn't even open it myself. Odd.

Boston is much more difficult for me in terms of finances; San Francisco is extremely do-able (it's driving distance.) Sigh.

I know, I know.

The fingers are crossed, but no one is holding their breath. We need it for the pitch meetings!

Deb mentioned that she'd met you. Isn't she an amazing woman? I'm very glad you two have friended, though deeply jealous that you got to meet her in person. She's an RL friend of an RL friend of mine, but I only know her online.

That's great news about the trilogy. Fingers crossed for you.

She is indeed amazing, and I was completely startled when she named you immediately at my vague description. It was a hoot.

The trilogy is like anything else, its time will come, and I appreciate your good wishes.
