Day 8: The egg is exhibiting minor movements, but no signs of cracks are present in the egg. It is still unclear when it will come out. I will continue to keep the egg under watch, despite lacking a proper incubator.

It almost feels wrong to just takes eggs from the Pokemon.

And to pay for them. But, if I didn't take it someone else would have I'm sure. It's a good opportunity to research these creatures more.

You've been researching?

To my best ability. There are only so few reading materials available. I just want this thing to come out well.

[Working in the PokeCenter helps a little, but not quite as much as he wants.]

Give it another week or so.

[ A pause. ] Breeding here doesn't really make sense. Some Pokémon lay eggs half their own size.

[ Eevees in particular come to mind. The mental image of them laying impossibly big eggs is not exactly pleasant. ]

[Ah, the man he purchased the egg off of.]

Another week you say? [He hums.] So much of this place is a confusion. No one seems to even understand how they breed.

[ Good thing the scarf and the hair makes him easy to recognize, eh? ]

Probably 'cause biology here is so fucked up.

From what I understand, that seems to be the case. Full-grown adults hatching from small eggs. I don't think I can ever conceive how that is possible.

[And here comes a seemingly irritated bass voice to offer the most helpful advice ever.]

Just fucking take care of it.

[Wow what a nice pleasant guy.]

That's what I've been doing, thank you. I guess you just can't pose questions like this?

[Seriously, he's the nicest guy in all of Johto.]

It's not that hard to figure out.

For being trapped in this messed up place and just told to take care of animals, like a zoo-keeper, I feel I have every right to ask questions if I don't know something.

You just put two Pokemon in a room and they work their magic...

... Actually, that's a good question. How do Pokemon do it?

It isn't something I necessarily care to know, but I'm surprised how little information there is in regards to it.

I guess some shit is better left unsolved. Like if the chicken or the egg came first.

It was the chicken.

[Said flatly.]

I'm pretty much positive that even the "Breeders" here couldn't explain to you how it works. It is just one of Johto's many mysteries.

Not even those in that profession. Doesn't make them very good at their job I think.

[What, does someone just turn their head and when they look back there are eggs?]

It just makes that little sense! Though I'm sure it would be kind of funny to ask every breeder you meet how it works, since they would fumble around trying to explain it yet fall flat...

[A light heh.]

Yeah, I bet I could get a real laugh out of that. Too bad I'm stuck in no man's land.

[Not that he would prefer it any other way right now, given how many jerks he knows are in Johto, but apparently not in his area.]
