Sleep deprivation is no joke. If you don't address it, it can make postpartum depression worse and be very unpleasant.
Sleep when your baby sleeps. Alternate night duty with someone else (your husband, your mother, your sister, whoever) so that you can get at least 8 continuous hours of sleep at least every other night. It will make a huge difference in your mood and energy levels, believe me.
I try to sleep when the baby sleeps, but it's often not pssible. I wish I could alternate night duty with someone else, but I'm nursing and I'm trying to avoid formula feeding as much as possible. My husband's been great so far -- I do the feeding and changing, he does the burping, swaddling, and putting Tova to sleep.
