I had to miss last week's chemo due to low white blood counts. So I had a blood test last Thursday.
Since there was no phone call after my blood test Thursday I reckoned all was well with chemo on Friday. Left home at 8 am and got to Cabrini Hospital early for my 9 am appointment with the oncologist. He said there was no blood test. What??? He rang ( Read more... )

I was supposed to have chemo yesterday. The blood test revealed my blood counts were too low. Try again next week.
I have very little extra energy. But I eat meat or fish every day. And lots of beans and lentils as well.

But I haven't exercised. So -- back on the bicycle. Short rides around the block. 

What a long day! Got to the doctor by 8.30. He said that I would no longer use paclitaxel since it has done a good job but would not do further good. In other words, it was maxed out ( Read more... )

Yes, I still have cancer. Tom Jobling, who did my hysterectomy,  and Gary Richardson, my oncologist, are getting my scan reports rewritten. I still have 2 lesions on the peritoneum and some cancer left in the lymph nodes.
I will be using two new drugs but they can't be given weekly as my last treatments were. Rather I get them once every 3 weeks. ( Read more... )

My little job. And it certainly is little. That's OK -- it's a job and a good one.

Today is the VCE meeting and also General Staff meeting. I'm back!! Part of the staff again. It doesn't matter it is only for Term 1. Meh.

Going to be Shvitzingrad today with temps to hit 39C. Wearing that wig is no fun. Still -- I HAVE A JOB!!!

Cycle 6 Treatment 18

All went well. The blood test showed that I am still anaemic but not low enough to stop a treatment.
Folate - OK
Thyroid - OK

Cancer markers were at 15 and now are at 14. Very good.

In two days I will have the PET and CT scans. One week later I see the oncologist. We will plan from there.

Cycle 6 Treatment 17 went well. No dramas.

Next Monday is the last chemo. If I keep the port-a-cath in the top of my chest I will need to visit the hospital every 4-6 weeks to have it flushed. That's OK.

PET scan and CT scan are scheduled for 22 January. Those tests will allow my oncologist to plan any further treatments. 

Cycle 6 Treatment 16

Cancer markers were at 17 and are now down to 15.
Neutrophils (white blood count) was 0.5 and are now 0.8. Low but good enough to have a treatment.

Two more treatments to go! Then a PET scan. Then.....?

All this is good news.
