The 4 x 4 cell was small and Seth could feel his muscles cramp up from being forced to kneel in the cell. Seth stared at Cassie through the window and his heart broke. If it were him he’d tell Gysborne to shove it up his ass but how could he say no when knowing that his actions would stop them from torturing her?

“What kind of sick twisted fuck goes around torturing woman to this? Have you lost your mind?” Seth Said.

Gysborne motioned for the commando to send a larger amount of current through Cassie. He didn’t even cast a curious glance when he heard her body violently shake against the chair she was strapped too. “You kneel before me and judge me?” Seth’s threats were lost on the man with his twisted obsession. “Before you accuse me of being a sick fuck why don’t you take a good long hard look at yourself Seth.”

Gysborne walked closer to the cage and knelt down so he was at eye level. “I just read the most interesting thing,” he spoke in a low voice as if he was inviting Seth into his confidence. “Several years back, you were in some hole and during certain times of the day somebody, who isn’t important, would set you on fire. I bet that was fun wasn’t it? Lying in a pool of your own blood and charred skin? Didn’t you befriend one of men who had to burn you? What was his name?” Gysborne tapped his chin in mock thoughtfulness.

“Winchester. You made him believe his life was worthless, of course, it was, but you psychologically mind fucked that poor soul. Bravo,” he stood up giving him slow claps. “And from what I’ve witnessed today, that wasn’t even probably the best you’ve ever done. How many men did you kill today? Men with families, wives, children? Did you ever think of that? Nah I doubt it. So before you call me a sick fuck, think about what you’ve done with your life.” Gysborne said.

“Stop it! Turn it off; I’ll give you what you want, just don’t hurt her anymore,” Seth said.

Gysborne motioned for the commando to unbuckled Cassie. The commando carried an unconscious Cassie out and as Gysborne unlocked the cell next to Seth, he waited for the commando to keep her restrained before locking the cell. Then he plunged the two captives into darkness.

Cassie wasn’t sure how long she was out, but waking up with her cheek pressed against the stale floor of the cell wasn’t on her top ten list of things to do. Her body felt like it got ran over twice by semi-truck. When she fully opened her eyes the memories of the day’s event flooded back to her.

She pulled herself up into a sitting position, which proved difficult with the restraints holding her in place and looked around. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust in the darkness and when they did, she could see a figure in the next cage. Pulling herself to her knees, she crawled forward, but could only move a few inches. She stretched her hand out towards the cage but found herself about a foot away from it.

She was hungry, thirsty and disgustingly dirty from being forced to sleep on the ground in her own waste. They never show that part in the movies, when you get electrocuted you tend to urinate and crap yourself. She was so embarrassed she wanted to cry.

“Seth?” She whispered. “Are you there?” She whispered once more. “Are you okay?”

“You’re awake, I’m fine but I’m more worried about you,” Seth said as he tried to inch forward as well.

“I feel like I got ran over twice by a semi-truck,” she said in a low voice. The restraints on her wrists and legs had a low voltage of current running through them. Although she could move around freely in the cage, there wasn’t enough slack for her to bring her hands together and unbuckle the restraints. She lifted her wrist towards her mouth but her teeth were only an inch away from the restraints. Frustrated, she dropped her hands and made a mental note to start taking Yoga so she could make her body more ‘bendy’.

The skin around her wrists and neck felt as if someone rested a hot poker on her flesh. She didn’t need to have the lights on to know burn marks and bruises covered her body. “I can’t hear out of my right ear, I think my ear drum exploded,” she whispered as she dropped her ear down towards her shoulder. She could feel the sticky blood pooling inside her ear. It made whooshing noises and hurt to the point where she wanted to cry.

“We’re near Mexico,” she whispered again, “I heard them talking about the border before I knew you were here.” She said.

Although her voice sounded resigned she was far from admitting defeat. “I can barely hear myself speak.” She dropped her hand, slapping the palm on the dirty floor of the cage. Lifting her head up, she looked around the room. The only thing she could hear was the whooshing between her ears and hoped she wasn’t losing her hearing in the other ear as well.

Silently she reached out in the dark, as Seth reached out to her.
