LinkedIn kindly keeps on sending me less and less appropriate job postings. This one caught my eye because the company in question, Digitas, has as their logo the silhouette of an actual unicorn, complete with sweeping, sexy pony-tail and surrounded by stars.

Misery loves company

I've been rejected by nine PhD programs so far, and I now have to decide whether I want to go through the whole dance again or not (among other things). If I don't, and if I still have my health in two years, I'd have to take the GREs again. Ugh.

One school left. On the bright side, I won't be putting my stuff in storage and hunting up tiny, expensive apartments in NYC.

Spring
It's been a tough few weeks, weather-wise and otherwise. Three nor'easters, lots of sickness, and I'm down to two schools.
Today was supposed to be a fourth storm, but while some places got a lot of snow, we got very little. It's wet, but there's not a lot of it, and the air feels soft.

We're down to two schools -- UConn (seriously, check out their philosophy program, it's kind of amazing) and The New School. Neither of them is exactly local; I'd have to move to NYC for The New School, and commute at least three days a week to Connecticut.

Brains
Four schools have rejected me. Six have not thus far! And I can only go to one... So, there is hope, but I try not to feed it with fantasies.
I am all better.
Also, I was having a lot of small, and some large, lapses of memory, so I had myself tested by a neuropsychologist. Net result: grief and depression are still dominating my mind, so I don't ( Read more... ) -

Everyone has certain things they want to accomplish in life. Climbing the Matterhorn, say, or scuba diving with sharks. Some people call these things "bucket lists", but I think that's a bit gloomy.

For my birthday, I got a Diabox, and was, overall, pleasantly surprised! True, nearly everything in it was polyester, but it wasn't horrible. And true, I am a whale, and white as the dawn of time, but they actually sent me two things I decided to keep.
