I think part of what effects me so strongly is that looking out the window, it's a nice looking day. I can see sunshine and at least partly blue skies. Have been able to since Sunday. It's hard to relate this to the hell that people are living. I feel like I should be able to see some evidence, as in other times of bushfires where a pall of amoke has hung across Melbourne etc.
That any of this came about from deliberate malice...words fail me. I cannot comprehend.
My thoughts exactly, as I've said. Unfortunately, no-one wants my blood. And as I've said in my own blog, people are concentrating mostly on humans so my contributions will be to help save the other animals...
I just got off the phone with mogg - she says that no more clothing and such is needed for the human survivors, as mountains of stuff have been donated, but things for the animals are still needed. Turns out we can't go up tomorrow, has to be Thursday instead, but it's not as if help won't be needed by then! FWIW every $10 cash donated buys a bag of stock feed, so in addition to towels/blankets/bowls and such, all of us will be handing $20-$50 each into the collection. Healesville was on extreme alert for a while and thankfully has now been knocked down to less in peril; however, the fires will carry on and there are some other areas at increased risk now. It is indeed surreal and distressing.

And yes, I meant to include that about the animals too. Though the RSPCA is who I'm colelcting olds towels and stuff for, as per Silverblue's post.
Melbounre Uni is offering vet and shelter care for all animals, even the large ones as well which I find wonderful.
