You are right about the Noldor, I'm sure; from all accounts they were very passionate. This ficlet is coloured by my (personal) idea that they are so interested in mechanics and patterns and rules that it might be reflected in their way of dancing.

Yes, I guess you're right: Passion without reason is like a runaway horse, very likely to run you into trouble; and if you have reason but no passion, then you're basically a robot.
