[Jack is home from his seaside adventure and immediately writes out four very quick notes to certain people, not bothering with filters or any of that rubbish:]
[Amelia doesn't look like she's got much of value on her as she heads across the bridge. At least nothing more than an umbrella to keep away the rain. She's been going out a good deal despite the weather, and she doesn't want to risk getting sick. Still, she's headed to the forest, just to explore a bit. Coming from a desert, the lush plant life is pretty amazing to her.
[That makes Amelia stop in her tracks, and she faces Jack with a glare. Someone just hit a trigger.]
Don't just push it aside like it's nothing. You don't think about it, right? So what would you know about what people have to go through after they've been robbed, or just because they're connected to a robber? People suffer and they die, and you think it's silly?
[Amelia walks a few steps further, then stops again.]
No one would help us, because we were his family. Not when we were robbed, and not when my mother got sick. She hadn't done anything, but she still paid for his crimes. And she was just one person out of many. His victims, and their families--because Gasback robbed without caring about who he hurt.
It wasn't just us. [Amelia's voice may soften a bit at that sympathy, but she's learned not to just focus on her own concerns.] It was the same for his victims, like I said. He took whatever he wanted without thinking about how it affected them.
You should think more about what happens because you steal.
I think not, actually. My stealing, darling--it teaches others that material possessions are not the end-all and be-all of life. There's things beyond wealth in this world what are far more valuable.
What do, Jack?]

[Of course he doesn't get it. Idiot. Then she'll put it in terms even he would get as she keeps walking.]
My father was a robber. And my mother died because of it.

[No details. Amelia doesn't feel like sharing that much.]
Idiot. You're missing the point.

[Amelia shakes her head slightly. Hopeless.]
So? What was the point of trying to steal my umbrella?

Due to how things are, here.
