11 Fathoms Down ☠ [written] + [action] + [monkey]

May 22, 2011 16:07

[Today Captain Jack Sparrow is trying very hard to disguise his writing. It is ornate and rather loopy and fanciful, and therefore far different from his typical elegant hand.]

Dear Lucetians,

My name is Admiral James Norrington, and I'm a whopping great bewigged prig important sort of fellow who enjoys showing off his tricky little monkey to ( Read more... )

[In the woods, Jack might find a certain member of the Kennedy family--no relation to those Kennedys, by the way--trying to free himself from the trap. What? Dawn hasn't introduced him to adventure movies yet, so he doesn't know it's a cliche to be looked out for. Jack the Monkey seems to have gotten hold of his pistol.]

[Jack HEARS some commotion, at least---the type of commotion that sounds very much like Kennedy-in-a-Trap. And no dear Horatio to free him? When Sparrow finally reaches the source of the noise he simply stands beside him and has a bit of a laugh.]

Oh, well done, rabbit.

[This earns an upside-down glare.]

I take it this is yours.

[He gestures at the monkey.]

[The monkey PERFECTLY imitates Archie, gesture-wise. Jack feeds him a peanut. Then he offers Archie a peanut.]

Aye; this, lad, is my monkey, what you well know as you once served as the brownie of my house, you recall, and the monkey served as the monkey of the house and you got on together as well as could be expected. Peanut?

[Dropping down after talking to Break-

Gilbert will just be charging off toward the bridge behind the house in search of Oz, now. Alas that he doesn't carry small valuable objects, but he is wearing a lovely and very easily removed black hat? And he's looking around, but not for a monkey.]

Oz? Where are you?

[action] lists_to_port May 23 2011, 00:18:21 UTC
Erm...there's no Oz here, mate.

[Jack IS interested in that hat. He has been looking for a suitable one for McCoy. This one...might not be the doctor's style, really.

The monkey simply sits back on his haunches and stares at this harassed-looking newcomer.]

Is there a problem?

[It takes him a second to deal with the derailment of his train of thought and getting it back onto the metaphorical track, in which time Gilbert blinks from the stranger to the monkey (there actually is a monkey?) and back.]

...he isn't here?

[Another look around seems to confirm that, too. Then what was Break talking about...?]

You haven't seen a young man, about fifteen, with blond hair and green eyes?

[action] GAH maybe I should wait for that thread to play out more? lists_to_port May 23 2011, 03:14:43 UTC
And who wants to know, eh? And why?

[Jack Sparrow, he plays things closer to the vest these days.]

[Well, Xellos isn't one for lugging around anything of immediate value, unless one would like to go bottomless satchel diving for munchies and travel guides.

And he hasn't come to see no monkeys. Actually, hasn't gotten a moment to peek through the book today, he just wants to go for a walk after a long hard night of trolling deaths son.

No one's warned him about any mysterious pirate infested marauding bridge.]

[That's a shame, that there was no warning; there should really be a section in the guide about this particular bridge by this time. Sparrow stands square in the middle of it as this stranger approaches; the monkey perches on his shoulder.

And actually, munchies might be a good target for Sparrow. He DID fight Kennedy over a muffin, once.]

'Scuse me, my fine fellow, but have you anything shiny and or desirable to a monkey about your person?

[They should really install a sign here. Jack Sparrow Toll Bridge.

And the monster stops short. Oh goodness me! ... A monkey! Actually, yes, he seems much more interested in the monkey than Jack at the moment, is this a problem?]

... Will it do a trick for one?

[Well, there is the ruby orb set in the staff, but he seems to have a pretty good grip on that.]

I might have a biscotti left.

[what is highway robbery]

[BISCOTTI. Jack's mouth is watering already. He orders the monkey to the ground, where, at a nod from its master---whom it HATES, by the way, because it truly belongs to Barbossa--the animal begins to dance. It is a very solemn and funereal sort of dance. Kind of depressing, really, for a monkey dance.]

Oi! Is that the best you can do, Jack?! Sorry, lad---the monkey seems a bit morose today. I've no idea why.

Hallo, Nami, darling. You're looking especially fetching today! Would you like to touch my monkey?

[Jack the Monkey begins to jump up and down excitedly at that suggestion.]

He'd like it ever so much.

[No smiles here.] I'm not a big fan of monkeys. [Headtilt.] You seem to occupy this bridge an awful lot, Captain Sparrow.

Because I enjoy robbing the poor souls who cross it, beautiful Navigator. Even poor Navigator souls. Even them.

[It is at this point that Jack draws his sword.]

[Jack might hear a female scream of rage coming from the wooded area where the traps had been set.

Investigation will reveal Lina, hanging upside down by one leg. She has currently hauled herself nearly upright, drawn her sword, and gone to work hacking at the rope, grumbling loudly for all to hear.]

[Oh bugger a WOMAN. Why why why why why. The pirate is quick to head into the trees, where he spots the sword-wielding Lina.]

You realize you'll have your own leg off at that rate, darling. Of course they make rather smashing wooden ones these days, don't they?

Very [hack] funny. [Slash.] Hey, it's this, or waiting for someone to cut me down.

...you are planning on cutting me down, right?

Depends, that---first off, what's your name, love?

[He takes out his sword and idly traces out a pattern in the bark of a nearby tree with the tip.]
