Glad you're having such a good time! And I'm reading about your adventures with great interest, since I'll be in Portland the first weekend in August. I told my mom about the Saturday Market, and we looked it up and decided to go when we're there. We're also going to Powell's, too, so I'm pretty damn excited about that. We're actually staying in Pacific City, Oregon (right on the coast, and two hours from Portland), but if we're already halfway across the country, might as well make the journey to Portland! However, I'm about 80% sure I convinced my mom to go horseback riding in Pacific City, so I'm pretty stoked about that. I haven't been horseback riding since I was in middle school!
I've lived in Missouri all my life, so when I looked up the weather in Portland for our trip, all I think was "it's going to be FREEZING!! Break out the pants and coats!" Okay, 69 for a high isn't freezing, but I'm pretty sure the low here was 83 yesterday, so you see where I'm coming from here.
Yes, I have read Runaway, and I have to say, I

Nice, I'm glad to hear you will be going to the coast, it's just so gorgeous over there. I also got to spend a few days there. Not in Pacific City, but not too far from there actually. Definitely be prepared to dress warmly for the beach, it was pretty chilly...but it felt so, so good after the oppressive heat of Texas (or in your case, Missouri, it's very similar here, the lows are usually in the upper 70's or lower 80's). But then I grew up in Oregon so I might be a little more used to that cooler weather then you. ;)
I'm so glad to hear you will be going to Saturday Market! It's really fun and was always one of my favorite places to go when I was a kid/teenager. My daughter and I really enjoyed browsing and of course she wanted EVERYTHING! :P And, believe it or not, this trip was the first time I've ever been to Powell's. ^^; It's huge! So many books, but it's just wow and definitely worth it if you like books. And I know you do.
Honestly, I'm not sure what I thought of Runaway. It was a bit of let down for me, I think

I just checked the weather again for Pacific City next week. Gah! 68 for a high in August. That's just unnatural (the high on Tuesday here is going to be about 100

I recommend a wind breaker for the beach, that's the best thing to help against the chilly weather because it's awfully windy at the coast. When do you leave? Sometime this week I'm guessing. ;) I hope you have a great time and I want to hear all about it when you get home.
Ah well, Runaway was okay, just not as good as I was hoping I guess. I still like Meg Cabot and I went ahead and put a request in for Insatiable at the library.
The Percy Jackson books are a lot of fun! We've had the first one lying around the house for a while but I never took the time to read it until now. I'm kind of glad I waited until the series was all done to get started so I can just read them all straight through (although I did that by accident). I still haven't seen the movie but I think that will be worth watching sometime soon. :D
