We had heavy rain and strong winds - Southerly and then SW winds of violent storm force 11 in Irish waters - for 2 days now. Force 11 is pretty unusual in the Irish Sea.

Today the papers are full of dramatic photos of the Great Flood in Crossmolina and a huge wave that appears to be about to engulf the village of Salthill in Galway and wash it into the Atlantic.

But it's not cold! 9 or 10 celsius is NOT that cold, even for us tropical Australians.

Bertie has a black belt? Watch out, next thing he'll be making Godzilla remakes or writing poems or something. What, Bertie? Really.

I don't miss Dublin's Christmas shopping fever but I do feel a bit, "oh - it's Christmas soon and I'm in China". I probably won't be going to Chinese class on Christmas day. May you grow green and leafy from your daily fording of Dame Street! Love, LKQ

We should start a blog post on a China expats community to write all of the odd ethnicities and nationalities we've been mistaken for in China.

Thanks. Ha ha, I know all about what various foreign peoples look like because opinionated Chinese people have told me. Thin foreigners can't be American, they must be French or whatever. No-one's really sure what Irish people look like, luckily!
