So the one good thing I can think about from this whole Prop 8 thing is that I suddenly know where I am and am not safe in my neighborhood. Long time lesbian activist and co-founder of the Daughters of Bilitis, Del Martin died earlier this week at the age of 87. Del and her partner Phyllis had (legally) gotten married to each other on June 16 in San Francisco, nearly 60 years after they met.

We had tomatoes that we grew ourselves last night in a balsamic glaze. It was delicious. Cherokee purples, cherry tomatoes, and another kind that I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember. We've been eating sugar snap peas from our garden all week. And today we harvested our first edamame ( Read more... )

Today, I cut a bunch of spinach from our garden and set it on the counter before I washed it. I then washed it very carefully, leaf by leaf (if I don't, I sometimes find bugs or clods of dirt in my food!) and cooked it. Then I went back to the counter and found a poor worm crawling on it!
