Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom

Mar 24, 2008 07:59

I've been thinking of attending Washington's Cherry Blossom festival, which starts this weekend and lasts for 3 weeks... Best time for me and my friends seem to be this weekend (March 29th) but I'm a little worried that maybe the trees won't be in full bloom by next week ( Read more... )

April the 10th? hmm so maybe April the 5th would still be rather early too...

well, the 10th is near the end.. I bet it's probably better to go sometime right smack in the middle of March 29 and April 13. The 5th sounds good!

i'd wait a little, it's a bit cold here right now!

also, be prepared for enormous crowds. it can be kind of unpleasant.

The coldness wouldn't be a problem, because I am completely used to weather here in Pittsburgh, and Washington DC wouldn't be colder than Pittsburgh, would it?

All I care about is the beauty of the blossoms! Considering the current state of the trees, do you think there will be enough fully opened flowers on them by coming weekend?

no, i meant the cold will affect the trees . . . if we keep having a cold spell that may delay full blossoming. probably if you come in the middle/towards the end of the actual ceremonies, there will be plenty of flowers.

.... but probably a safer bet to wait another week if you can...

The trees here aren't starting to blossom just yet - I'd say April 5-6 should be much nicer.

According to the National Park Service, the peak bloom this year is March 27-April 3.

The link below explains what exactly that means.

And yay! I'm so glad you took my suggestion. ;)
