shia labeouf is definitely not a native name. lebeouf is french and i thought it was a stage name, but i looked it up and labeouf is his real name -- his dad was cajun. shia's a hebrew name.
Have you ever seen the Sex and the City TV show? Because, befitting the name, it's pretty sexually explicit, just as a warning.
There's a limited release film that MAY be showing in your area called "The Fall." I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard good things about it and it's supposed to be VERY visually stunning. It might be worth looking into.
Also, when it comes out on DVD later this month, I'd be really interested in your reaction to the movie Persepolis. It should be available at your local DVD rental store, assuming you have a DVD player handy. It's based off of a graphic novel (i.e., "comic book") and I thought it was both emotionally affecting and beautiful to look at. Oh! And one more movie to look for (though, again, it's a limited release) is The Visitor. And if you're looking for one more easily-found movie, there's always Iron Man, which is pretty fun and funny.
Hmmm I never saw the tv show of Sex and the City. Thanks for the warning. The Fall and The Visitor must be interesting too. And since I got another recommendation for Iron man, that one should be seen too! As for Persepolis, my Iranian friends watched it some month ago. (I was busy so I didn't go with them.) They said it was funny. Another Iranian friend of mine who lives in Toronto said it was disturbing and sad. I might borrow it from Netflix some time. But only when I am ready to brood for a while after it, if it was disturbing :)
Well, much like life, it's both funny and sad. Yes, there are disturbing parts about it, like protests being put down pretty violently by both the Shah and by Khomeini's people. There's also the girl's grandmother, who the girl looked up to more than anyone and who was always straight-forward, even blunt, no matter who was listening. And I dare you not to come to love the grandmother's inner strength. It's not a super-happy movie, just because of the times and places in which the protagonist was growing up, but it's a great movie all the same.
Aww to be honest, I always hated Narnia, because there was a very old British TV show of it that I watched when I was 15-16 and the Lucy there was so fat and ugly, and the show was so cold and disturbing! The whole Narnia thing reminds me of that show, unfortunately! But maybe I should try this Narnia 2 to wash out some bad memories. :D

I have not been to theatres to see movies in a long time but got a strong recommendation for Iron Man from a female friend who does not even like action/comic movies. She could not find a single flaw with it, and actually went back to the theatre a second time.
For me, my new, favorite movie is Across the Universe, which convinces me that the Beatles are supernaturally gifted songwriters. I that movie so, so much!
