So I woke up this morning anxious to see how the elections ended up in the country and in Wisconsin. I must say that I've never been so crushed to see that not only did Wisconsinites approve amending the constitution, they also approved reinstating the death penalty. I just don't get it. How can you support killing other people? I realize the whole

I felt the same way about both referendums when I saw. However, there is good news about the death penalty. It won't actually be law. This just means that it can go up to the legislature and IF they approve it, Doyle will veto it, as he is very much against the death penalty. So we don't have it yet. At least for the next four years... Although there is no way around the gay marriage ban. Depression.

I find it rather arrogant of us to say that we have such a perfect justice system that we are able to determine who lives and who dies. But, as Jess said, thank God that actually wasn't written into law, and that Doyle's still in his seat.

As for the gay marriage/civil unions ban...I really don't know how to express my disappointment with the people around me. I guess I can at least take solace in the fact that Dane county (where Madison is) was 67:33 against the ban. I guess now we just need a challenger to take it before the Supreme court as soon as possible and hope we get a ruling against once and for all.

I think its funny that you use the word barbaric, cause the Barbarians actually came up with a system in the middle ages to avoid violence and if someone killed someone else, they just paid the kin the value of that person. They were prehistoric, and they were ahead of us...

Yeah, I was glued to the tv election results as they were coming in Tuesday night, and very sadden/sickening by the results of the death penalty and marriage ban. It made me lose a bit of faith Wisconsin. Forward? Those results were nothing short of going backwards.
