On The Road

The first week of June, Nick and I went on a road trip vacation to visit our grandparents/relatives and squeeze some camping in on the side. My grandmother's are in Minnesota and South Dakota, and Nick's family is in Denver, and his grandparents in Kansas. For some extra fun we threw in a few days camping in the Black Hills. Neat!

I went to SoDak maybe 20 years ago, and enjoyed it immensely. I was underwhelmed by the corn palace, though, but that could be because at my tender age I had not yet learned to appreciate kitsch. :)

hehhe.. yeah, i was also underwhelmed as a kid every time we'd drive past. It helps now that I'm old enough to buy some yummy caramel corn and wonderfully awful little gifts for coworkers ;) It also helps that it was *right* on our way.. so hey, why not? :D

I've never been out west really (my family has made the trip twice now, unfortunately without me cause it just didn't work out), but it looks gorgeous ^_^ Your uncle should sell some of those old cars out for parts I bet he could get some good cash for 'em ^_^ That is if he was planning on getting rid of them in any way at all ^_^ Lovely pictures though :)

I looove the west as I love the open rolling prairie west of the Missouri River :) By far my most favorite landscape. If you ever get a chance for a road trip out west, I'd highly recommend it. We grew up on camping/road trips to state parks growing up, so maybe it'd be a good excuse for a family vacation someday ;)

As for the cars, my uncle owns his own repair/service station and has hopes to restore them someday :) He already restored my grandpa's coal truck and it turned out amazing. (I'm guessing it looks better than when it was hauling coal). All three of those cars have pretty special meaning to him, so it would be awesome to see them back to their old glory. :)

That is awesome that he does that! I always dreamed of restoring old classics when I was younger, but that got butted out by other dreams ;p I love seeing old cars like that restored ^_^
