With the closing of the stadium imminent things have become so quiet in the office that I've started doing an online Basic French course on LiveMocha to keep my brain from atrophying. I've somehow managed to devote almost the entire weekend to reading (I'm behind on my Goodreads goal, and inherent competitiveness has kicked in), with the result that I feel like I'm just now coming up for air and my mind is still so full of fictional worlds and characters that I have no real interest in what's going on in the actual world around ( Read more... )

The next time our trainer starts off a session with "We're going to work on upper body today!", I am turning around and running in the opposite direction (that would count as cardio, right?). Totally want to live here when I get old.

Good lord, it's hot. I think the thermometer hit 99 deg. today, but with our lovely river valley humidity, the heat  index (or as the weather people are fond of saying, "what it really feels like outside") was 125. I find TLC's 'Toddlers & Tiaras' is both terrifying and oddly addictive. After three (I think?) seasons, it blows my mind that people would deliberately choose to put themselves and their children on the show, unless they really are completely obtuse.
